How to Add Bullet Points to a LinkedIn Post

LinkedIn's post editor has no bullet-list button — there's no formatting menu at all. The bulleted lists you see in other people's posts are built with a Unicode bullet character (•) typed or pasted at the start of each line, which LinkedIn's plain-text editor displays exactly as typed.

The fastest way

Paste your list into the LinkedIn Text Formatter's bullet-points output — it prefixes every line with • automatically, so you copy the result once and paste it straight into your post, profile summary, or job description.

Doing it manually

If you'd rather type it yourself: on most keyboards, Alt + 7 (Windows, on the numeric keypad) or Option + 8 (Mac) types a • directly. On mobile, you can copy a single • from anywhere and paste it at the start of each line — slower for a long list, but it works without any tool.

Where this works

Bullet points typed this way survive anywhere LinkedIn accepts plain text: post body, comments, the About section, and job/experience descriptions. They don't survive being retyped through LinkedIn's own "rewrite with AI" post assistant, which sometimes strips them — if that happens, re-paste the bulleted version after.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add bullet points in LinkedIn? Type or paste a • character at the start of each line — LinkedIn has no bullet-list button, but it displays the character as-is since it's just text. The Text Formatter does this for a whole block of text at once.

How do I make bullet points on LinkedIn? Same approach: prefix each line with •, either by typing the keyboard shortcut for your OS or by using a tool that adds it automatically.
